Skincare for the ages
20s
Inspired by an anti-ageing seminar we attended at the NZ Beauty Expo here are some helpful hints to keep your skin healthy and beautiful. Remember Coco Chanel once said 'Nature gives you the face you have at 20. It is up to you to merit the face you have at 50' so the effort now will have rewards later!
Your skin starts ageing from the day you are born although, sunscreen aside, a skincare routine is not always necessary until your 20s (or before on the advice of a GP, skin specialist or beauty therapist). Start a basic cleanse, lotion, moisturise and sunscreen routine now and your skin will be the envy of many when you are in your 40s.
30s
In your 30s you will start to notice changes in your skin - spots and pimples for the first time, dark patches and the first wrinkles. Take action now with more advanced skincare products, like a night cream, to keep premature ageing to a minimum.
40s
With the arrival of your 40s almost overnight the wrinkles appear. How did that happen? Your 40s skincare routine should be consistant and involve regular exfoliation and treatment products.
50s
Your 50s is the time for intensive repair and renewal as your skin cell turnover slows dramatically. Good nutrition, gentle exercise, professional facials and serums to use at home will keep your skin looking and feeling great.
60, 70, 80 and beyond ...
From your 60s and beyond is a good time for skincare maintenance. If you've looked after your skin until now, or not, cosmeceutical skincare products with their regenerating and restorative action are essential.
What does all this mean for you? Well, your current skincare routine might contain the right steps but the wrong type of product - for example we often see customers with a dry skin type using moisturiser for an oily skin. We are committed to ongoing education and are here to help you with your skincare problems and questions so please don't hesitate to call or book for a complimentary skin consultation on 09 406 2229.
See you soon at Doubtless Beauty,
Alison & Jodi
